Although Arpamet.com allows you to create and integrate a directory in your website with a few clicks, the API is useful for developers to create new applications such as Askonthefly.com, a directory which allows the top 500 tech journalists interview CEOs & enterpreneurs by videoconference.

Arpamet allows you to create real time directories of people. In other words, lists of people sorted depending on their rating and availability to receive emails, phone calls or videocalls just now:

Askonthefly is a real time directory which allows the top 500 tech journalist in the world to call enterpreneurs or experts on the fly so that they provide first-hand information about diverse fields and industries just a click away. If the journalist get useful information, the entrepreneurs or experts get mentions and therefore exposure and visibility.

The web videoconference doesn’t require to download & install any desktop application, it works from the browser. However, if you want to receive calls without keeping open the browser all time, you can configure your iChat, Google Talk, Pidgin or other messaging application to receive: “someone is calling you, please go to http://… to answer“. Then, you click on the link, your browser will open & the videoconference will start.

Click on Preferences, Accounts and “+”:

Introduce your Arpamet username followed by @arpamet.com (if you have signed in with Twitter, your username will probably be the same than in Twitter and you can choose your password in your Arpamet profile). Then click on Done:

From now on when someone call you will receive the message:

And finally, click on the link, your browser will open and the videoconference will start:

Click on Accounts and Manage Accounts:

Now click on Add:
